Module 1 of the Armchair Researcher focussed on the composer's use of musical imagery. My thoughts on the subject, focussed by the act of preparing the questionnaire as well as by the varied responses received, were presented at the CMI-99 conference in Oslo, Norway in May 1999 and later summarized in the article Composers and Imagery: Myths and Realities.
